Public Availability of Facilities

Certain sporting facilities at the Arakawa Campus of Tokyo Metropolitan University (gymnasium, tennis courts) are available for public use.

1 When available

Sundays (except during the year end / New Year period)
Gymnasium 9:00-17:30
Tennis courts
April-October (i) 9:00-11:30 (ii) 12:00-14:30 (iii) 15:00-17:30
November-March (i) 9:00-11:30 (ii) 11:30-14:00 (iii) 14:00-16:30

2 Who can use

Facilities can be used by any of the organizations in 1. to 4. below that meet all of conditions a. to d.

  1. Government, local authorities and other public bodies
  2. Organizations registered as school public-use bodies with the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education
  3. Organizations registered as social sports bodies with ward and municipal boards of education in Tokyo
  4. Organizations belonging to ward and municipal sports bodies in Tokyo
    1. Consist of at least 10 Tokyo citizens
    2. Organized for the purpose of amateur sporting activity, and regularly engage in activity
    3. Running of the organization is systematic, organized and democratic
    4. The organizers are adults

3 How to apply

Decide the time of use by lottery in the 2nd Floor Assembly Room of the Student Welfare Building from 9:30 a.m. on the 2nd of each month (or the next day, if the 2nd is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday), then submit an application.

4 Fees for use

There is no hire fee, but users are asked to pay lighting, heating and water costs in the gymnasium only.

5 Important notes for users

  1. Only the area permitted for use may be accessed.
  2. Please refrain from coming by car.
  3. Smoking is only permitted in designated smoking areas.
  4. Please adhere to the times permitted for use.
  5. Please leave the facilities as you found them. Be sure to clean and tidy the area, and take rubbish home with you.
  6. If you no longer wish to use the facilities at the permitted time, please notify the General Affairs Subsection of the Administrative Affairs Section as soon as possible.
  7. Users are responsible for managing their own valuables and dealing with accidents such as injuries while using the facilities.
  8. When using the facilities, please comply with other precautions and various rules set out in the User Permit.
― Important Notice ―

*Some of the details given above will change from April 2017, as follows.

  1. The gymnasium will also be available on the 1st Saturday of each month.
    The gymnasium will be available for use on the 1st Saturday and every Sunday (except December 29-January 3).
    *There will be no change to tennis court availability.
  2. Hire fees will be charged for the gymnasium and tennis courts.
    The hire fees will be announced as soon as they are decided.
  3. The fees for lighting, heating and water use in the gymnasium will be revised.
    Details of amounts, etc., will be announced as soon as they are decided.
